While it’s true that the nature of online study allows most students the opportunity to choose a program from anywhere, some programs require a small on-campus participation so choosing a location close-by might be necessary in certain cases.
Where Are The Top Online Colleges in California?
National University (NU)
NU offers many popular degree programs such as education, engineering, and public health. Students with more specialized interests may choose undergraduate and graduate certification programs such as bereavement studies, casino management, and crime scene investigation. Tuition rates are $326 per unit for undergraduates, and $372 per unit for graduate students. NU participates in federal and state financial aid programs, which include grants and loans. They also offer need-based scholarships.
California State University (CSU)
CSU offers online graduate education in nursing, communication sciences, and rehabilitative counseling and is one of the top online colleges in California. Online undergraduate programs include women’s studies, liberal arts, and human development. Tuition is $1,999 for undergraduates taking more than six units, and $2,452 for graduate students enrolled in more than six units. Non-resident students are charged an extra $248 per unit. California Southern University (CalSouthern)
Undergraduate and graduate degrees at CalSouthern include business, psychology, and management. They offer two degree programs that are uncommon in the online environment, a M.S. in Law and Juris Doctorate (J.D.). The master’s degree is for students that have an academic, not practical, interest in law. Graduates of the J.D. program are eligible for the bar exam. CalSouthern does not participate in federal and state aid programs, but allow students to make payments on their education and/or use employer or military benefits to fund their education.
Carrington College (CC)
CC offers certificate and associates programs in the areas of healthcare administration, technology, business and criminal justice. They are specifically geared toward students beginning their studies with a two-year degree, or students that want an applied education so they can go into the job market sooner. Tuition varies depending on the degree program and type of course. General education courses are $364 each, while program-specific courses range between $435 and $870 per class. State and federal aid programs are available to students. High school seniors that have been accepted into CC can apply for one of three scholarships offered by the school.
California Coast University (CCU)
CCU offers undergraduate and graduate education in the fields of business administration, education and psychology. The programs are specifically for individuals that cannot make the time commitment for traditional instruction and would benefit from learning at their own pace. Tuition is $150 per unit for undergraduates, and $230-$290 per unit for graduate students. CCU does not participate in federal and state aid programs, but has a payment plan available to students.
