The University of North Texas Application Requirements
Undergraduate students who are ranked in the top 15th percentile of their graduating class and have a minimum SAT or ACT score of at least 1030 or 20 are guaranteed admissions. Other credentials include higher rankings and higher SAT or ACT scores. Prospectives should be registered members of UNT’s Eagle Advantage Program in order to be considered for guaranteed status. Otherwise, undergraduates should have completed a satisfactory high school curriculum and should have satisfactory SAT or ACT scores. Some supplemental documents include a letter of recommendation, high school transcripts or GED scores, a personal statement and an admissions interview. Applications can be fulfilled online through UNT’s admissions portal. Undergraduate students should submit a fee of $75 along with their application.
Graduate students seeking admissions should seek advice from an admissions counselor. Many programs at The University of North Texas require different application requirements. Some of the basic supplemental documents that students may be asked to provide include letters of recommendation, official transcripts, satisfactory GRE or GMAT scores, satisfactory TOEFL scores (if applicable), and a resume and/or CV. Graduate students must pay an application fee of $85.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Undergraduate students who are residents of the state of Texas will pay a statutory $50 per credit hour. Students who are non-residents of the state will pay a statutory $472 per credit hour. Cost per credit hour varies based on the college in which students are seeking a degree. The colleges of business, journalism and media arts will be $15 per credit hour. The colleges of music and visual arts and design will be $30 per credit hour. On average, the cost of undergraduate tuition for Texas residents living on campus is $25,680 while non-residents who reside on campus have an average tuition rate of $38,340.
The University of North Texas offers a number of scholarships for undergraduate students, with the highest award covering the entirety of tuition expenses. Typically, 46% of students receive financial aid in the form of a scholarship with award amounts being at least $7,621.
For graduate students who are residents of the state of Texas and partaking in at least nine credit hours, tuition is $22,568. Non-resident graduate students have tuition of $30,164. All admitted students are eligible to apply for financial aid. Students can choose to obtain financial support by applying for scholarships, grants, loans, and work-study programs.
